Meet some of the wildlife ambassadors from the park and learn about the adaptation of owls and how to tell the natives species apart.

Leaf Print Necklaces

Find out some interesting facts about leaves and press a leaf into some clay to make your very own jewelry. Meet at the Visitor’s Center.

Close Encounters of the Bird Kind

Listen to the important message the non-releasable raptors of the park have to share and learn a little bit about them. Meet in the Lodge Lobby.

Wildflower Walk

Take a walk with a naturalist beside the creek looking for wildflowers. This is a 1-1/2 mile round trip walk that is of moderate difficulty. Meet at the Visitor’s Center.

Peculiar Possums

Learn some fascinating facts about our country’s only marsupial – the opossum. Find out what makes them peculiar. Meet at the Visitor’s Center.

Ssssnakes Alive!

Meet some non-venomous snakes that are native to Georgia and find out why these often misunderstood creatures are so important. Meet in the Lodge Lobby.

Marvelous Mammals

Join a park ranger to find out some interesting things about mammals commonly found in the mountains of North Georgia. Explore some of their pelts and see what super powers they may have! Meet at the Visitor’s Center.

Signs of Spring Nature Walk

Meet at the Visitor’s Center to take a walk along the stream with a park ranger. As you are on your way to a spectacular view of the waterfalls, you will learn to look for the signs of spring. This is about a 1 mile walk and takes about an hour.

This program is best for children 7 years and older. Meet at the Visitor’s Center to learn some orienteering basics. A compass will be provided for the program. Make sure the children are dressed warm as there will be outdoor activities.

Wedding Ideas Open House

If you are interested in getting married at the beautiful Amicalola Falls State Park, you will want to join in this event. Brides to be and wedding planners are invited to tour the lodge to see what it has to offer in regard to reception space, wedding facilities, menu ideas, and guest rooms. Terrific Turtles

Map and Compass
Go over some orienteering basics at the Visitor’s Center. A compass will be provided to use for some outdoor activities. Make sure to dress warm. This is geared for children 7+. $5 parking.

There will be a raffle for a new Mossberg turkey gun. Tickets will be $5 each or 5 for $20 and they will be available at several locations around town. Call M. Gilbertson at 678-343-8942 for locations.

There will also be a raffle for a new DPMS AR-15 rifle. The lucky winner will be required to fill out paperwork and get their prize at 400 Jewelry and Loan. Tickets for this raffle are $10 each or 6 for $50.

Proceeds for the evening will go to help Deputy Johns and his family during this very trying time in their lives.

Fall Changes – Ask a Naturalist
A park ranger will be in the Lodge lobby at 4 PM on October 14, 21, and 28, 2011 informally discussing changes happening this season in the North Georgia Mountains.

Fall Color Hike
Meet at the Park Visitor Center at 3:30 PM on October 15, 22, and 29, 2011 for a 1 hour, 1 mile round trip hike. Park rangers will be discussing why the leaves change color and other interesting changes we see this time of year.

Jr. Ranger Program
Learn more about Georgia’s Jr. Park Ranger program and work toward earning a Jr. Ranger badge at 10:30 AM at the Park Visitor Center on October 15, 22, and 29, 2011.

Sssnakes!
Meet in the Lodge lobby to find out some interesting things about the snakes native to Georgia and meet some non-venomous reptile ambassadors to the park at 1 PM on October  15, 22, 29, and 30, 2011.

Autumn Magnets
Meet in the Park Visitor Center at 3:30 PM on October 16, 23, and 30, 2011 to create an Autumn magnet to make a memory of the beautiful fall leaves.

That’s Owl Folks!
Listen to stories and get to know the park’s resident raptor ambassadors at the Park Visitor Center at 3:30 PM on October 19 and 26, 2011.

This event will be held at the Dawson County Middle School on October 11, 2011 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

Tickets are $3 for students, $4 for adults, family maximum of $15 and can be purchased at the door.

Admission is free so bring the whole family out for a festive day in the nice fall weather of the Northeast Georgia mountains.
