Enjoy many activities to welcome spring including a hike through the park indentifying wildflowers as you walk and many kid&#8217;s crafts with a wildflower theme.</p>

Meet some of the wildlife ambassadors from the park and learn about the adaptation of owls and how to tell the natives species apart.</p>

Find out some interesting facts about leaves and press a leaf into some clay to make your very own jewelry. Meet at the Visitor&#8217;s Center.</p>

Listen to the important message the non-releasable raptors of the park have to share and learn a little bit about them. Meet in the Lodge Lobby.</p>

Take a walk with a naturalist beside the creek looking for wildflowers. This is a 1-1/2 mile round trip walk that is of moderate difficulty. Meet at the Visitor&#8217;s Center.</p>

Festivities begin at 11:30 AM. There will be plenty of food available for sale so come enjoy lunch at the park. The Easter Bunny will be there posing for pictures. Other activities include face painting, inflatables, Wayne&#8217;s Trains, a Krystal eating contest and, of course, the Easter Egg Hunt. Meet in the Visitor&#8217;s Center. Baby owls are born in the month of March so to celebrate welcoming them to the forest, you can make your very own pinecone owlet to take home.</p>

Amicalola Falls has some non-releasable raptors who call the park their home. You can learn about them and the important message they have to share. Meet in the Lodge lobby.</p>
<p><strong>Signs of Spring Nature Walk</strong><br />
<em>March 11, 18, 25, 2012</em><br />
<em> 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM</em><br />
Meet at the Visitor&#8217;s Center to take a walk along the stream with a park ranger. As you are on your way to a spectacular view of the waterfalls, you will learn to look for the signs of spring. This is about a 1 mile walk and takes about an hour.</p>
<p><strong>Map and Compass</strong><br />
<em>March 12, 2012</em><br />
<em> 1 PM to 1:45 PM</em><br />
This program is best for children 7 years and older. Meet at the Visitor&#8217;s Center to learn some orienteering basics. A compass will be provided for the program. Make sure the children are dressed warm as there will be outdoor activities.</p>
<p><strong>Wedding Ideas Open House</strong><br />
<em>March 18, 2012</em><br />
<em> 1 PM to 4 PM</em><br />
If you are interested in getting married at the beautiful Amicalola Falls State Park, you will want to join in this event. Brides to be and wedding planners are invited to tour the lodge to see what it has to offer in regard to reception space, wedding facilities, menu ideas, and guest rooms. 		<description><![CDATA[A Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser will be held at Thunder Road in Dawsonville, Georgia on February 12, 2012.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Come on out to Thunder Road City Limits in Dawsonville, Georgia on <strong>February 12, 2012 </strong>from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM for a spaghetti dinner and help Deputy Chase Johns and his family as he recovers. For a donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children, you will get a tasty spaghetti dinner with salad and a drink of tea, coffee, or water, dancing and a silent auction.</p>
<p>There will be a raffle for a new Mossberg turkey gun. Tickets will be $5 each or 5 for $20 and they will be available at several locations around town. Call M. Gilbertson at 678-343-8942 for locations.</p>
<p>There will also be a raffle for a new DPMS AR-15 rifle. The lucky winner will be required to fill out paperwork and get their prize at 400 Jewelry and Loan. Tickets for this raffle are $10 each or 6 for $50.</p>
<p>Proceeds for the evening will go to help Deputy Johns and his family during this very trying time in their lives.</p>

Meet at the Park Visitor Center at <strong>3:30 PM</strong> on <strong>October 15, 22, and 29, 2011</strong> for a 1 hour, 1 mile round trip hike. Park rangers will be discussing why the leaves change color and other interesting changes we see this time of year.</p>
<p><strong>Jr. Ranger Program</strong><br />
Learn more about Georgia&#8217;s Jr. Park Ranger program and work toward earning a Jr. Ranger badge at <strong>10:30 AM</strong> at the Park Visitor Center on <strong>October 15, 22, and 29, 2011</strong>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Enjoy an evening of competition between Dawson County&#8217;s leaders and professionals as they compete with each other on elementary school subject matter. It will be fun to see how they fare. There will be 10 year olds on the sidelines to help advise with the hard questions.</p>
<p>This event will be held at the Dawson County Middle School on <strong>October 11, 2011</strong> from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.</p>
<p>Tickets are $3 for students, $4 for adults, family maximum of $15 and can be purchased at the door.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Don't miss the 2011 Mountain Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, Georgia on October 22 and 23, 2011.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-191" title="Moonshine" src="http://www.downtowndawsonville.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/moonshine-sm1.jpg" alt="Moonshine" width="150" height="164" />Come on out to Dawsonville, Georgia on <strong>October 22 and 23, 2011</strong> for the 44th annual Mountain Moonshine Festival. The way of life in Dawsonville in the 1930s included running moonshine through the North Georgia mountains. This festival explores the history of that time along with the birth of NASCAR. You can listen to great stories being told about the legends of the time and their thrill of the chase. The festival opens at 8 AM and there will be a parade at 9 AM on Saturday, October 22 as well as a large car show with vintage racecars and their drivers. You can see an old time moonshine still. Enjoy crafts, food and entertainment on the square until 5 PM. The fun continues on Sunday, October 23 with many more activities including music, dancers, exhibits and children&#8217;s activities and, of course, more cars.</p>
<p>Admission is free so bring the whole family out for a festive day in the nice fall weather of the Northeast Georgia mountains.</p>

You can take a spin at the roulette wheel, try your hand at card games like blackjack, craps, and Texas Hold &#8216;em to possibly win some great prizes. In addition, there will be a silent auction, prizes, hors d&#8217;oeuvres, a dessert bar, and a cash bar. The special guest emcee for the evening will be John Gerard, the WXIA-TV 11 Alive Commuter Dude!</p>
<p>This enjoyable evening will be held at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Museum. Tickets are $50 per person and proceeds will go to benefit the Dawson County Humane Society.
