The City of Dawsonville lies in a valley near the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. It was born partly due to the many miners flocking into the area after gold was discovered nearby in 1828. There are many festivals and events happening in Dawsonville every year, such as the Moonshine Festival held the 4th weekend in October. The Moonshine Festival celebrates the history of the area during prohibition when people were running moonshine. NASCAR was born from the stock cars that were used during that era. There’s lots of fun to be had by everyone. You can hear stories about the thrills of the chase, visit an old still, see many cars at the car show, enjoy the music and entertainment, as well as the food, parade, and crafts.
