45th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival

Hillbilly with MoonshineCome on out to downtown Dawsonville, Georgia on October 27-28, 2012 for the 45th annual Mountain Moonshine Festival. Starting off the festivities at 9 AM on Saturday is a parade of moonshine and revenue cars. There will be many vendors selling lots of great stuff, 2 stages with live entertainment, and many legendary race car drivers to meet and greet. Over at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame (formerly Thunder Road USA) will be a swap meet, car show, and cruise in where you will see vintage race cars and authentic moonshine hauling cars.

On Friday, October 26, is the Moonshine Run starting out at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame at 10 AM with registration beginning at 9 AM.

Proceeds from this event will go to benefit KARE for Kids, a non profit organization that helps underprivileged kids in the community. For more information on this event, contact KARE for Kids at 706-216-KARE (5273).

Benefit Yard Sale for James Carnes

Local Dawsonville, Georgia resident, James Carnes was injured while on vacation, suffering a broken neck and is now a quadriplegic. A benefit yard sale is being held for him and his family to help with the medical bills that were not covered by insurance. This event will take place at the Lighthouse Baptist Church on June 15 and 16, 2012 from 8 AM to 3 PM.

Benefit for Kenneth Stewart

The Dawsonville Bodyplex Club in Dawsonville, Georgia is sponsoring a benefit on June 5, 2012 from 3 PM to 8 PM to help Kenneth Stewart, an 11 year old boy who has been battling brain cancer for the last 4 years. This event will have plenty for everyone including fitness classes, bootcamp, personal training sessions, blackjack, a putting green, a bean bag toss, refreshments and more! As a way to raise money, a small fee will be charged for participating in each event or game and 100% of the proceeds will go to Kenneth’s family to help with the mounting medical bills. Meet some of the wildlife ambassadors from the park and learn about the adaptation of owls and how to tell the natives species apart.

2012 Easter Egg Hunt

Easter BunnyKARE for Kids is sponsoring a Community Easter Egg Hunt at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Dawsonville, Georgia on April 7, 2012. Festivities begin at 11:30 AM. There will be plenty of food available for sale so come enjoy lunch at the park. The Easter Bunny will be there posing for pictures. Other activities include face painting, inflatables, Wayne’s Trains, a Krystal eating contest and, of course, the Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin promptly at 2:30 PM so try to get there early with your basket ready. For more information, call 706-216-KARE (5273)
